At the beginning of what was to be an interesting day of announcements from Governor Walker, he joined us for some opening comments to the last day of the Governor's Conference on Economic Development hosted by the Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA). Other speakers focused on the export opportunities for Wisconsin companies, the role of the federal Economic Development Administration (EDA), the growing role of economic development regions and the targeting of industry clusters, and a sneak peek at the new online building and sites database that will be coordinated Statewide through WEDA. It was nice to see Governor Walker take this event seriously, as compared to the previous administration. As he was off to announce some controversial budget measures afterwards, it was nice to have him take some time to speak to the economic development community in the State.
